Updating the design of your bedroom is a simple task that can take less than a day. I love to change up my bedroom’s mood as often as possible. There are many quick and easy changes that can make a refreshing impact.
I always start by moving all the small items out of the bedroom to give myself a clean slate. I’d use that opportunity to give the bedroom an extreme deep clean. Focus on the hidden areas that we don’t see every day. Consider rearranging the larger pieces of furniture to a new spot. Simply moving the bed or dresser can give your space a new perspective.
Before putting everything back consider a color transformation. I love drastic color change, but if painting isn’t an option touching up or adding a light glaze on the walls will make it look like you did.
I use Pinterest and Apartment Therapy to find home design and DIY inspiration. Also, I love Youtube for DIY videos.
Here is some inspiration that I found online:
- Change up bedding by adding new pillows, comforters, or switching the duvet cover. If your color theme is currently dark, then go with something lighter. Have fun with mix-matched bedding. I love to swap pillows between rooms.
- Spruce up the lighting in your room by changing the brightness of bulbs – I’ve even used colored bulbs for an effect. Lamps can easily be painted and shades can be decorated. Consider trading shades from lamps in other rooms.
- Adding a fresh coat of paint to wood furniture can make the piece look new. I’ve always wanted to try making a side table from something unc
onventional like a stack of suit cases or books. If you have enough room try a small dining table, which can double as a desk and/or dressing table. I’d use this new surface area as an opportunity to reorganize my jewelry. - Add dramatic drapes to your windows or an entire wall. I love the idea of using curtains as a headboard. Table clothes also make great curtains because they’re already hemmed, come in many sizes and patterns, and are meant to be washed.
Color theme changes can revamp the entire feel of a room. Choosing monochromatic colors can make a room feel calm. But, I enjoy neutrals with splashes of organic greens or oranges to make my room feel whimsical. If you’re going for something romantic try selecting darker colors, like deep reds, pinks, and blacks. Personally, I like to mix bright colors with darker shades – dark gray and orange, or brown with bright greens.
There are so many trouble-free ways to give your bedroom an entirely new attitude. In fact, it is so simple that you can change it up as often as you’d like!
